Mood boards are essential when trying to get the colour scheme or theme of a piece together to show your taught process and how you imagine a scene or character will look.

Set Dressing
Furniture
Props
Fabrics
Costume
Sketches
Lighting Fixtures
Wall hanging photos or paintings
Wallpaper or paint for the walls
All this can help create the Director DOP and the Production designer get the same image and feel for a scene helping out the flow and speed of the production.
